Some B2B analysts and other industry observers are saying that online and other digital revenues will
be larger than print revenues.
In about 1 1/2 years from now, the change will occur with B2B channels outreaching print for Internet marketers,
according to a report from Outsell Insights.
Such changes should be no surprise to B2B marketers since print revenues have been falling off for the past
few years.
About two years ago, Outsell researchers found that print revenues fell from 49 percent to about 32 percent.
Outsell has forecast continued print revenue slumps of 5 percent for 2007, and a bit less than 2.3 percent for next year.
But with strong growth in digital revenues, Outsell expects B2B advertising to remain strong. Digital ad revenue
is forecast to increase 17 percent this yeear, to reach over 22.1 percent of overall electronic revenue.
To most industry observers, next year is expected to witness 17 percent growth and, in 18 months from here,
researchers expect to see about 12.9 percent.
In less than three years from now, growth in the B2B segment and digital is expected to slide to approximately 9.9
percent.
What's interesting with all of this is that even with the growth slowdowns expected for 2009 and 2010, forecasters
still expect the digital spend to exceed print in 2009.
At that time, B2B revenues will be responsible for about 38 percent of the total according to the report.
