Based in Europe, search engine company Seekport has signed a business
development partnership with Cogito, a UK search engine advisory firm, to help
roll-out its B2B search engine located in the UK.
Cogito will work with Seekport to help identify and develop B2B opportunities for its search engine technology in key market areas such as media and publishing.
Seekport recently launched the beta-version of its UK-specific search engine www.seekport.co.uk. It is already established in Germany and France with an aggressive plan to roll-out across Europe in 2005.
Seekport claims to deliver significantly higher hit quality than traditional US-centric search offerings, using a local indexing team to cut spam and ensure that users gain faster access to relevant UK and market-specific content.
Cogito’s consultants have worked with Alta Vista, Espotting Media, ESpottingFindWhat.com, and have also been involved in the development of the DoubleClick Dart advertising product.
Robert Crompton, managing director of Cogito Associates, said: “It is true that search engines such as Google serve the general web user’s expectations well at the moment, but we’re seeing a growing B2B requirement for a search engine that can offer UK-specific, spam-free, relevant search results.”
